The Adam Project movie review!

Standard

I’ve Finally Watched is back again with my review of, The Adam Project on Netflix.

I think I was told about this film and I’m glad I was. The Adam Project centers around Adam Reed, a teen who recently lost his father, has a smart mouth, and plagued by a school bully. He is on the path of alienating his loving mother when he discovers his elder self wounded in his father’s shed. Elder Adam is on a mission and has gone back in time illegally to complete. Their meeting will put both on another path, one where their life is in jeopardy because future Adam has people hunting him.

This film is full of Ryan Reynolds’ (Future Adam)humor and the acting is good. It’s not hard to imagine he and younger Adam (Walker Scobell) are the same person. It is a film that mostly focuses on the internal struggles of the main protagonist, the two Adam’s and their growth.

The supporting cast are all good implants and add to the story. My only issue is, I would have liked a stronger presence from the antagonists. I really didn’t get a full sense of urgency or detailed reasoning for their determination aside for, maintaining the power they had which was told to us instead of shown.

Before writing this up, I even had a discussion about the time lines and the lack of satisfaction with the way situations and developments were not fully shown or explained but none of this takes away from the movie. I feel that if a movie has you talking afterward, that’s a win…right.

This was a fun film with action, comedy, and a few moments of sadness. I enjoyed it all.
